What is an anaerobic digester?
Household food waste will be processed and put into an entirely enclosed fermentor which operates without oxygen. Micro organisms transform the organic substance into the following elements:

  • solid compost
  • liquid fertiliser
  • biogas, that will be converted to electricity via engines. This will be used within the facility and exported to the grid for distribution

the process normally takes 15 to 20 days at temperatures of 55 to 60°C
